Hi friends! In this blog post I'll be going over a step-by-step approach to making art. Obviously there are lots of different ways that people make art, but these are just some things I've learned from my experiences.
Step 1.) Generally in the process of making art, people first go and look for inspiration. I'm not telling you where to look because it could be anywhere. It could be in a book, in the refrigerator, on the bottom of your shoe, etc.
Step 2.) You will find a lot of art that other people have created. Because art is all about creating something that no one has created before, you will probably be disappointed that so many people have already used up so many cool ideas. You might even start to think that there are no cool ideas left for you to find.
Step 3.) Think really hard about something you could create. You'll probably get discouraged and hit a mind block.
Step 4.) Stop trying so hard to think of some idea in your head. Turn off your phone/tv/computer, and go relax. Many times I've had the most creative ideas in the shower, right before I fall asleep, right when I wake up, while I'm eating food, or while I'm staring out a window.
Step 5.) Usually when you find inspiration, you don't get just one idea; they all come flooding in at the same time. So when that happens you might want to write your ideas down in a notebook or something.
Step 6.) Once you know why you create, what you create, and how you create, then you'll most likely be an unstoppable force of an artist.
Step 7.) Creating something new is a very raw and vulnerable thing. Surround yourself with people who speak life into you and your dreams, and don't let a negative comment define who you are. Your art is worth something because it's a little piece of you, and you are priceless.
Step 8.) Please share your art. The world needs more real art and brave people.
That's all I have for this tutorial. If you're still reading this blog post, you're cool. Keep chasing inspiration, write your ideas down even if you think they're dumb, and take a break from the internet sometimes.
