The dimensions of the painting are 24 by 36 inches, and it was painted with acrylic paint.
For this painting the inspiration came from Psalm 91: { “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust ... }
I can't say that I knew from the beginning what I would title this painting. I didn't decide the title untill the very end. I just sat and looked at the painting for a while and then finally decided to call it "It's Time". I didn't want to call it "soar" or "freedom" or anything generic like that because I think those words are always associated with eagles, and using one of those words for the title would be kind if repetative.
So I decided to title the painting something that it was speaking to me. And I feel like its tells a story of timing;
its time to try again
its time to let yourself be free
its time to soar where you should be soarding
its time for revival
its time for the morning to come
its time to rise up and be who we are supposed to be.
For reference photos I found these on pinterest and combined them: (Im inculding these pictures because people always ask me if I paint from my imagination, and no, i do not. I use reference photos.)
For the record, this is the kind of paint I always use:
So I pretty much took it one step at a time, and spent hours trying to make it look perfect, until I finally decided that I had spent enough time on it. I painted the sky first, then I painted tree layers from lightest to darkest. The last step was painting the eagle. The eagle was the most difficult part. My bother kept telling me that it looked like a fat flying chicken, so I finally decided to turn the painting and reference photo upside down, and turn my logical brain off with it.
